Last Sunday (August 8th) Team LBT took to the snow-less slopes of the Belleayre Ski Center for the Bellearyre Mountain Challenge. The course was a 4.3 Mile loop that included everything from fast downhill to very technical single track.

Not sure how long it's been like this - I usually ride the singletrack near the the top and backside only, but it looks like the Town of Liberty took out part of the singletrack to install a septic system. This track goes from the baseball field area down behind the soccer field. It's about 50 feet that is gone. Trees removed too... Too bad.
Otherwise the rest of Walnut is awesome!!

We went for a ride on the Liberty Rail Trail this weekend. The trail looks great, wild flowers are blooming, the trail itself is not wet like it was last year, and we rode past some ATV users. Yeah the Liberty Rail Trail is ONLY for biking and hiking, but there are so many ATV users in Liberty that you just can't control them. So I really don't mind when they use it because they'll remove branches and whatever else is blocking the trail.
BUT - when they don't use good judgement and create huge ruts in the trail we all worked so hard to open - thats where I have to draw the line. Really, come on guys this is public land that the village is kind enough to let us use. They can always shut it down for EVERYONE because you guys just can't respect the trail!
For over 4-years we worked hard, hundreds of volunteer hours, thousands of dollars, endless campaigning, all to get this trail opened - and in 30 seconds it all gets thrown out the window because you have to show off for your buddy.
Next time you are on our (residents of the Village of Liberty) trail please remember to tread lightly! And think about everyone who is trying to make Liberty a better place.
